ISAE’s Board of Directors plays a vital role in guiding the direction of the organization and advancing our mission to build stronger leaders who lead stronger associations. ISAE's Leadership Development Committee accepts nominations for individuals interested in serving on the ISAE Board.

Whether you’re nominating yourself or someone else, this is an opportunity to help shape the future of Indiana’s association industry while giving back to a community of peers and professionals.

The Leadership Development Committee currently seeking to fill the following positions for terms beginning January 1, 2027: 

  • Board Director (Association Professional member): One vacancy; Three-year term
  • Board Director (Supplier member, in the hospitality industry, including CVBs): One vacancy; Two-year terms

Qualities of a Good Candidate

  • Passionate about the association industry and committed to ISAE’s mission
  • Active and engaged professionals, including association executives, staff, and supplier members
  • Willing to be strategic thinkers and dedicated contributors
  • Ready to champion ISAE’s growth, events, and membership

We value diversity in perspective, role, background, and career stage. Prior volunteer experience is welcome but not required.

Board Member Responsibilities

  • Actively engage in work required to execute ISAE programs and services, including member/sponsor cultivation, on-site volunteer roles, and planning committee involvement
  • Promote and advocate for ISAE’s mission and programs
  • Support member engagement and serve as ambassadors at ISAE programs
  • Contribute to the development of strategic goals and organizational policies
  • Uphold ISAE’s bylaws, ethics, and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

Board members are expected to attend in-person and virtual meetings, including quarterly Board meetings, the ISAE annual convention, and other key events. Time commitments include approximately 15 - 20 hours annually. Details can be found in the Board Director Position Descriptions linked above.

Nomination Process

ISAE's Leadership Development Committee recommends the following process for all interested candidates: 

  1. Interested candidates should complete a brief interest form (self-nomination or on behalf of another ISAE member).
  2. Candidates will be evaluated and the Leadership Development Committee will extend invitations to formally apply.
  3. The Leadership Development Committee will then invite selected candidates to advance to interviews conducted by the full committee.
  4. After careful review of each potential candidate’s profile and interview, the Leadership Development Committee will present a slate.
