Our profession needs your help! Join your peers as we expand awareness of the Indiana association community at the State House, and pick up some great professional development in the process. This event is not only for government affairs professionals – it is for all of us in association management!

Begin the day by discovering the relevance of government affairs and public relations in your association career path and gain the tools to engage with legislators and legislative influencers if and when needed.

Immediately following the workshop, join us for an informal networking lunch with legislators in the atrium at the State House. Whether you take advantage of the opportunity to engage directly with your legislator or not, we want to fill the atrium with ISAE members and association professionals to demonstrate the size and strength of the association community.

Discover the Relevance of Government Affairs to your Association Career Path

Featured Speakers:

  • Karl Berron, Chief Executive Officer, Indiana Association of Realtors
  • Lynne Petersen, CAE, President/CEO, Indiana Apartment Association
  • Rick Wajda, CEO, Indiana Builders Association

Association executives and leaders typically wear many hats during their climb up the ladder – one of which is often related to government affairs. Whether or not they served in a government affairs role, they’ve touched in it in one way or another as associations are often the voice of their industry at the local, federal and even international level. The Association Day workshop will demonstrate how understanding government affairs can help you grow as a more well-rounded association professional.

Gain the Tools to Engage with Legislators

Featured Speakers:

  • State Rep. Carey Hamilton, Indiana House of Representatives, District 87
  • State Rep. David A. Wolkins, Indiana House of Representatives, District 18

Association personnel whose primary job function lies in the government affairs realm are more likely to be polished when speaking with legislators than their co-workers in other departments such as marketing, membership and finance. The Association Day workshop will give you the tools to effectively and comfortably engage with legislators and their assistants, not only as an association professional, but as an Indiana tax-paying constituent as well. Immediately following the workshop, we’ll head over to the Indiana State House across the street for an informal networking lunch with legislators.

New Format for 2019

The 2019 Association Day will feature a modified program from that of years past. While this event, formerly known as the Legislative Luncheon, previously focused heavily on government affairs and specific legislation affecting the association industry, this year’s program is geared toward association professionals whose day-to-day responsibilities are not necessarily limited to government affairs. The primary objectives for this year are for attendees to discover the relevance of government affairs in their association career path and to gain the tools to engage with legislators if and when needed.
